About Mixshift

We built the tools we wished we had.

Mixshift was started by an operator, an automation architect, and a technical builder - three people who spent years inside the Amazon ecosystem and got tired of fighting it with tools that weren't built for the job.

Our story

The platform we wish existed.

Amazon represents 40% of US ecommerce, but the software ecosystem around it hasn't kept up. Most tools were built a decade ago, for a marketplace that no longer exists. Agencies and brands are forced to choose between expensive platforms that don't fit their workflows or cobbled-together custom stacks they can't maintain.

We started Mixshift because we'd lived that gap firsthand. One of us ran agencies and scaled them across continents. One of us automated Amazon's own supply chain at massive scale. One of us built the data infrastructure that turns API chaos into a source of truth.

Together, we're building the platform we wish had existed when we were in the seat.

The team

Three operators. One platform.

Each of us has spent years on a different side of the Amazon ecosystem. Together, we cover the full surface.

Andy Thompson
Co-Founder, Chief Strategy Officer

Andy Thompson

Andy started in a small family business wearing every hat - the kind of role that teaches you to solve problems without a playbook. That foundation became his edge in Amazon, where he learned to navigate seller support, late shipments, and operational chaos at a time when most agencies didn't even know those problems existed.

He went on to scale an Amazon agency to 100 people across four time zones, building the operating systems and client workflows that let an agency actually deliver. He's currently Chief Strategy Officer at E Commerce Walla and works closely with Mixshift on agency strategy.

The operator who lived the seller's pain, and knows what agencies actually need from software.

Todd VanderStelt
Co-Founder & CEO

Todd VanderStelt

Todd led Amazon's "Hands Off the Wheel" initiative - the program that automated inventory purchasing decisions across 50,000 SKUs and scaled to millions. He built the Economic Ordering Model that integrated profitability, customer in-stock value, and the cost of overstock into a single automated decision system.

Along the way he learned the hard lessons of automation at scale: how forecast bias breaks systems, why planning horizons matter, and how to balance machine efficiency with human accountability. Today he applies that same thinking to Amazon agency tooling.

The person who actually built the automation systems Amazon runs on - and knows where the limits are.

Sam Hager
Co-Founder & CMO

Sam Hager

Sam came up on the technical side of the Amazon ecosystem, building tools and integrations as the APIs matured around 2020. He recognized early that agencies were drowning in manual reporting and that the bottleneck wasn't talent - it was infrastructure.

He built Mixshift's data backend to be the source of truth agencies could rely on, normalizing Amazon's chaotic data into something teams can actually use on a client call. He's the technical engine that lets the rest of the platform run.

The builder who turns Amazon's complexity into reliable, scalable infrastructure.

How we work

Built in public, shaped by operators.

We publish our thinking. We share what we're building before it's polished. And we listen carefully to the agencies and brands who use Mixshift every day, because they know things we don't.

If that's the kind of company you want to work with, we'd love to hear from you.
